Results of the national competition for the conceptual architectural design of the extension to the existing building of the Montenegro Bar Association in Podgorica.

On 14 April 2026, the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property announced a national competition for the preparation of a Conceptual Architectural Design for the extension of the existing Montenegro Bar Association building in Podgorica.

The subject of the competition was the preparation of a conceptual architectural design for the extension of the existing Montenegro Bar Association building, located on Urban Plot UP1 within the area covered by the Detailed Urban Plan “Nova Varoš 2” (Official Gazette of Montenegro, No. 32/18), in Podgorica.

The deadline for the submission of entries was Monday, 15 June 2026, at 12:00 noon (local time in Montenegro).

The objective of the competition is to create a distinct functional unit within the City Stadium complex beneath Gorica Hill, while preserving the stadium’s visual and spatial integrity. Particular attention should be given to the successful integration of the extension with the building’s northern and eastern façades, which are currently under construction.

The deadline for the submission of competition entries was Monday, 15 July 2026, at 12:00 noon.

Within the prescribed deadline, three competition entries were submitted under the following entry codes: 63684, 09073, and 20720.

During the first stage of the competition, the Jury concluded that it was not possible to select a single first-prize entry. Consequently, the competition was continued as an extended competition, in accordance with Article 5 of the Rulebook on the Procedure for Announcing and Conducting a Public Competition for a Conceptual Architectural Design (Official Gazette of Montenegro, No. 8/24).

Two competition entries, under the entry codes 63684 and 09073, advanced to the final round.

The deadline for the submission of the revised competition entries was Monday, 6 July 2026, at 12:00 noon.

Within the prescribed deadline, both revised competition entries, under the entry codes 63684 and 09073, were submitted.

The Jury carefully analyzed the proposed urban planning concept and functionality of both competition entries, as well as the innovation in architectural expression, site design, and other key aspects relevant to the competition brief. In addition, the Jury took into consideration the sustainability and aesthetic contribution of each competition entry.

Following a thorough evaluation, the Jury unanimously decided to award the second and third prizes, with their total value corresponding to the prize fund allocated for the second and third prizes.

The Jury also expresses its satisfaction and gratitude to the participants for responding to the invitation to take part in the national competition for the preparation of a conceptual architectural design for the extension of the existing Montenegro Bar Association building in Podgorica.
